Do You Know . . .

that there are less than eight months until Christmas?

Christmas fabrics are starting to arrive in the shops--perhaps you noticed? Last year, I was madly in love with Figgy Pudding by Basic Gray; this year, 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain makes my heart go pitter patter.

The Year of Schnibbles pattern was announced today for May--and it's our choice! So I pulled out one of the patterns I had that isn't in the new book and two charm packs of 12 Days of Christmas and got busy cutting tonight. I still have to cut the background but the charm squares are cut.

Today I taught the picnic quilt and tote class--more about that in the next day or two I think. I didn't get home until nearly 8 p.m., and by then, I was much too tired to do very much, but I'm pleased I at least got part of this Schnibbles cut out. (I would have just gone to bed but for the lure of Doctor Who and MI-5, so I had to at least be semi-productive.)

I have one more Schnibbles plan for the next couple days--to pin this version of the X-Rated Schnibbles quilt I pieced and appliqued awhile back so I can quilt it soon.

While I'm still thinking about Christmas, though, I was wondering--what's your favorite line of Christmas fabric coming out this year?

Sometimes I think I'm broken.

I don't do "lines" of fabric or know designer's names, don't buy honeybuns or pie plates or any of the cutesy-folded fabric selections. I was at a new-to-me quilt store yesterday and came home with exactly the 27" of repro fabric I went for.

BUT, as my family says, "LOVE you, LOVE your show!" Continually love your blog and your sense of humor, and you're so darned creative I admire the heck outta you. Keep it up girlfriend, I never miss a post!

What a hard question! For fun I like Makin' New Friends, and for more traditional I like Northwoods Botanicals. I just don't know how you get so much quilting done.

I love Colourful Christmas by Riley Blake and will be buying some when it gets out!
You know I'm normally a Moda girl but that line is so cute and fun!

I am in love with the French General Christmas line. Over the years I never used to buy a "line" of fabric, but have found that it really makes quilting so much easier if you do invest in purchasing from the same line. Same is true with using Moda fabrics. I can find matching shades even in different lines, to use together. I have so many orphan pieces that are hard to match. But I still try to work with them (although that can be time consuming and frustrating).

I too love the 12 Days of Christmas! I just ordered a few charm packs of it and Basic Grey's Fruitcake. I like what you are doing with the x-rated schnibbles quilt. I am just about to finish the machine quilting on my x-rated quilt in the Frolic fabrics. It is quite interesting to see how one pattern looks in all of the different fabrics.

Oh, for me, without a doubt, the new line from French General, Lumiere de Noel!
Your X-rated Schnibble with the applique is awesome.

Hmm... not sure about what is my favorite for this year's Christmas fabric. But I'm still in LOVE with figgy pudding, so that may be hard to beat!

No question, Monica's "Holiday Happy"! I can't wait until July when I can get my hands on some!

Your quilt is beautiful...love the applique!

Good idea for your Schnibbles--you will be ahead for the season.

I like both Monica's Lecien line of Holiday Happy and the Heather Mulder Peterson's lines equally. A quilt or table runner in either is in my future, I think.
