If you've read my blog for any length of time, you know I'm all about the celebrations in life, and National Pie Day is no exception! Yes, January 23rd is Pie Day, although we celebrated a day early at my office with a pie contest. Here's my entry:
I made a mint Oreo cookie crust, then a layer of a cream cheese filling, topped with a layer of chocolate mousse, and finished off with a generous layer of fresh whipped cream. Oh, and then there are those Oreo cookies and crumbs you see on top. Yum!
And I won! Well, to tell the truth, we all did! I think there were about six of us who entered, and our judges all found something about each of our pies worthy of a prize. My award was for something like "most original." Yep, that's me! And what was the prize? A Starbucks gift card--because really, what goes better with pie than a nice cuppa Joe?
So celebrate Pie Day by making a pie of your own! Or, if that's too much work, at least make sure you go out and eat some pie--because, really, diets don't count on holidays, right?!
Oh, that looks yummy! I think I am going to have to throw a pie together tonight when I get home from the office. Well maybe a Marie Calendar's chocolate, whip cream somethingorother after seeing your pie.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the win!
I work at a school and we celebrate Pi Day on 3/14. Home-made pies are available in the cafeteria and anyone who can recite the first ten (or is it 15?) digits of Pi can have a free piece. Anyone else pays $3.14 for a slice. It's so much fun. All of the money goes to a community service project.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you taught us that today is National Pie Day. I am always looking for a reason to celebrate and things have been looking down around here this week. I think a pie would be a nice treat today. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou Certainly sound like you work in a wonderfully FUN office. Especially since it's a law office! The cool stuff you guys do is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pie, and diet or no I would have had a small piece of THAT!! Oreo anything is my favorite!
Wow! I wish I worked at your firm! Although, we get birthday celebrations every month at ours. We had an ice cream sundae bar yesterday here.
ReplyDeleteMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I want some!
ReplyDeleteHey Kim... of course you know that I am dying to be entered in the drawing for the valentine quilt. I also wanted to tell you that I have lots of advice on your new pattern business. I did take a class on it and I can give you the details on copyrights. So you can email me directly or you can call me and chat. Let me know and I can send you my number. I am so proud of you and your patterns and it is essentially how I got started as well. Good luck with everything. I might even be able to tell you where you can get your bags the cheapest. Let me know. :)
ReplyDeleteUh, oh...my hubby will be disappointed when he finds out it's NPD and I haven't made his favorite apple pie, Kim! Thanks for the tip off - I'll be leaving work early to bake - hee, hee!! Too bad I can't just reach thru cyberspace and grab a slice of yours for him - virtual pie eating without the calories - now there's a concept!
ReplyDeleteCheers and Congratulations!
Kim, that pie just has my mouth watering. I can't even imagine how many calories would be in a piece, but oh how good it would be. Winona
ReplyDeleteI thought pie day was March 14--Pi(e) equals 3.14 (3/14, get it?). But who cares? That looks delicious.
