Here it is, late Saturday night (actually early Sunday morning), July is over, and I'm not done finishing projects yet! ARGH! I've decided, therefore, to extend July a little bit. After all, it's my birthday MONTH, and everyone knows that one's birthday should be celebrated all month long, right? So it just makes sense that there should be 32 days in July and that August start on the 2nd. That's my theory, anyway!
What DID I get done though? Well, I finally did the current Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along block--we get another (the last) on Monday, so it's about time! I used another embroidery pattern designed by Andrea Zuill (she also designed Pumkin Girl and Bat Boy, two embroidery patterns I used earlier in the series of blocks)--this one is called Spider Queen.
Speaking of embroidery, I had a couple comments asking about this one I finished yesterday--
It's a design by Lakadaisies (click on name to access their website). The one I had, though, was pre-printed on muslin, and I see only patterns on their website, but they are neat patterns (I ordered a Halloween one today). By the way, something I forgot to mention yesterday--Hubby rented The Blind Side, and we watched it while I finished the embroidery last night--really good movie!
Today I also finished another really good thing--
Excellent book! I whole heartedly recommend it if you haven't read it yet. The only drawback? I'm kind of bummed I'm done. Now what? I think it might be Patty Jane's House of Curl next--I've heard good things about that one too, but I'm sure it can't hold a candle to The Secret Life of Bees.
Tomorrow, since it's still July according to moi, I'm going to try to finish a decorated box I've been working on for quite awhile--I spent a lot of time on it today. And I'd like to get a quilt or two pinned for quilting, although I don't know when I'll get around to doing the quilting. But right now, my "pinning tables" are set up on the patio, and I'd like to put them away, so I might as well get the quilts pinned.
With all that I have planned for tomorrow, I guess it's time for my beauty sleep. Thanks for stopping by to visit.
Your new Halloween block is great...I love how the spider and the crow (in the purple fabric) seem to be looking at each other. I see nothing wrong with extending July. August can start on Monday. :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG Thank you so much for the link to Lakadaisies. I saw some red work patterns that I loved but never found out where I could order them..and now I know. I've been hoping to find this source for sometime. Thank you soooo much.

PS. in my excitement I forgot to tell you how much I love the block. Keep sewing happy birthday month too.
I love the Halloween block. I like everything about it. Was that last years Moda Halloween fabric?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of designing a quilt using this block. I'm in love.
I'm all for July 32nd! Bring it on!
ReplyDeleteI love what you're doing with all these blocks! Even though I'm a wuss and am terrified of spiders etc.
ReplyDeleteJuly can definatly extend into August, you can pretend to be Canadian, and it's a long weekend here and everyone knows the next month doesn't start until AFTER the holiday!
I love all of Lorna Landviks books....excellent fun reads..
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for providing the link to the embroidery pattern. It's appreciated! Phyllis
ReplyDeleteWhew! I am glad it is still July. That gives me time to finish my BOM. Thanks for the heads up! lol
ReplyDeleteOk I've been seeing this block all over blogland.... where is the pattern? Did I miss something? I would love to use up some of my scrappy strips on that.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Love the spider queen block! Wasn't that book awesome?! Do yourself a favor - rent the movie. It's so good - I wanted to go live with the Boatwright sisters. July can be as long as you want it to be. Take care....piece.
ReplyDeleteLove your Halloween block. That's going to be one uniquely "you" quilt when it is put together!
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Life of Bees was such a winner--I bought my copy in the Sydney airport for something to read on the long plane ride but didn't. I read it all in one sitting when I was home sick after getting home. Like you, I was sorry it ended! What a great book, loved it.
Love the block! I "read" (in audiobook form) Patty Jane's House of Curl. It was a good read. I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned pinning tables. Have you discussed these before? Pinning a quilt is my biggest challenge. Would you share your method?? Thank you!!!!
