Freakishly Weird

Tuesday I was sitting at my desk in the office, typing, and Boy Boss was on the other side of my desk, doing whatever Boy Bosses do when they're standing around their secretary's desk (and the age difference is too great for cleavage peeking--not to mention the fact that at my age, anyone cleavage peeking me would need to get down on their knees). "Boy Boss," I said (or something along similar lines), "This is a test. What's the 69th best rap song? If you get it right, I'll bring you lunch every day for a year."

"Ever?," he asked. "The 69th best rap song EVER?"

"Yes," I replied. "It's not like there's a whole long history or anything! Ever!"

He thought for a little bit and then he said, "Gin and Juice."

Now you may or may not know, but according to Wikipedia, Snoop Dog's Gin and Juice is the 69th best rap song EVER. And I had just checked it that morning before I left for work--'cause this is the kind of stuff I think's really important. But how did Boy Boss know that?! Believe me, I was a little freaked.

If you've been reading my blog for a bit, you probably know that Boy Boss is also an occasional reader, so I got to thinking, and I wondered whether he'd read my blog that morning. Maybe he'd seen that I mentioned getting gin to make Christmas Glogg, put 2 and 2 together, and figured out I was thinking about gin when I asked him about the 69th best rap song EVER. So later that afternoon, I asked him, "Have you read my blog today?"

"No," he answered, "not today."

"Why not?," I asked. But never mind. So he didn't just happen to know what was on my mind that day--at least not by reading my blog. Which would have been freakishly weird enough, but this was worse! He just totally and completely R-E-A-D . . . M-Y . . . M-I-N-D! ARGH!

Then on Wednesday, right after I read a news story on Yahoo, Boy Boss came up to my desk. "Did you hear about the guy who stabbed himself to get out of going to work and then reported to police he'd been attacked by three skin heads? Or Hispanic guys? He wasn't sure which?"

"No," Boy Boss replied. "Have you thought about doing that?"

"You tell me," I replied. "You're the psychic."

"Yes, you have thought about it," he said, "but you decided not to."

Dang he's good! Scary, isn't it? And speaking of scary stuff . . .
