I Need a Name

I need a name for this quilt. This is the one I'm teaching at my next class at Bearpaws & Hollyhocks at the beginning of June, and I have to publish the pattern in the next week or two. Apparently my brain thinks it's on vacation too, because I just haven't thought of anything I like. Can you help? If I decide to use your suggestion (and you're the first to suggest it), I'll send you a free pattern just as soon as it comes off the press. I'll take suggestions through Thursday night and announce a winner on my Friday post.

Although the class is called Patriotic Patchwork, you needn't use "patriotic" or "patchwork" in the name--that was just something I came up with on the spur of the moment when I had to commit to teaching a class and had no idea what I wanted to teach.

Oh, and if you're anywhere around Sacramento on June 6th and want to spend the afternoon sewing, chatting, and eating (yes, I'll be feeding my students again), I'd love to see you in class!

THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW COMMENTS AS THERE ARE JUST SO MANY GOOD NAME SUGGESTIONS, MY BRAIN MAY EXPLODE, AND IT WILL LOOK JUST LIKE THAT QUILT!

  1. Betsy Gets Bold! As in, after she finished the flag, she made a quilt.

  2. "Fireworks!"
As a title it already makes you think of red, white & blue and the Fourth of July. The quilt looks like a big fireworks explosion and all the little sparklies that burst from it!

  5. How about Wheel of Fortune? (Combining Carpenter's Wheel and Soldier of Fortune) and a play on the game name.

Then you can play a version of the game during class and give prizes. As if you didn't have enough to do to prepare...

  11. Winged Star. I don't know whay but the white pieces in the half blocks around the edges remind me of birds wings fluttering around the edges. Quilt looks great. The contrast is stunning.

  22. Okay, so I tried not to look at everyone elses suggestions. With it having the Americana theme and when I think of America and it's econmic situation, and trying to be positive... Star Power, Star of Hope, Star so Bright

No matter what you name it, it's beautiful.

I wish I lived closer to Sacramento to take the class.

  31. Hi Kim, when I fist looked at it .. for some reason a maze pattern came to mind.. so I pick:
    Star Maze or Star Mazing
either way.. it's a great pattern!

  32. I personally like some of the others better than any I can suggest but ( like Star Mazing )
but two things come to mind- A Mazing Stars or Wheeling Stars
( the pattern reminds me of a carpenter's wheel traditional pattern) .
Whatever you name it - the pattern has turned out beautifully.
Your hat class looked like so much fun and what a great hat party you threw. I loved your hat pin cushions-
I wish I did live closer - you always do it up just so- the little extras make the class a memorable event for your students!
Good luck with the pattern name.

oh another name "Road to the stars..."
    Regards,
    Anna
