Not that I really NEED any more projects, but I was trolling around Blogland the other day, trying to find out if there were any quilt-alongs or virtual BOM projects starting up at this, the beginning of the new year, and I didn't really find much. What did I have in mind? Well, something like the Comfort & Joy applique quilt that Anne at Cottons 'n Wool hostessed a year or two ago. Or the Country Charmer pieced quilt. Or the Shabby Cottages BOM. Or any of the great BOMs Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill used to offer.
As I said, I don't really need any more projects, but there's something fun about participating with a group of online friends that I've missed this last year. So I thought I'd throw the question out there: Is there something starting up that I may have missed? If you've come across anything lately, please leave a comment with a link, if possible, to someone hosting something along these lines. Or if you've been looking for something and haven't found it, please let me know--maybe we could start something ourselves.
Thanks, in advance, for any information you can provide to point us in the right direction!
Hi Kim, I've come across two lists latel, both are fairly similar. Not sure of any of these BOMs are wghat you are looking for, but several have tempted me!!

Treads of Memory a Civil War - with lots of Star!! blocks (my favorite) starts 1/25/14. I am seriously considering this one http://barbarabrackman.blogspot.com/2014/01/threads-of-memory-civil-war-block-of.html
ReplyDeleteThere is a "wishes" quilt along, it's a sampler quilt on the Fat Quarter Shops Jolly Jabber - located here http://fatquartershop.blogspot.com/p/wishes-quilt-along.html
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do it from fabric I already have, need to reduce the "stash".
Pat Sloan has a BOM called Globe Trotting that started this month with the first block called Washington. There is an on-line group called Quilt Mashup that is her followers. It looks like a fun one. I'm putting a piece of millennium fabric with different cities on it. I've cut a center square with the Washington monument on it.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteDont know if you are an American Jane fan but i just signed up for her new BOM which was introduced at Fall quilt market. Its called Make A Splash and you can find it on her website under BOM. I just loved it and you might want to take a look. Like you i cant resist BOM.
joinedatthehip has one traditional and appliqué and Country Threads...I expected to find more too!
ReplyDeleteThere's the SuperScrappy Rainbow Challenge! http://superscrappy.blogspot.com/p/rsc12.html
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you posted this question.
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to do the "Blogger Girls BOM" over at Open Gate quilts. You make 2 blocks a month for 6 months. They are 6 inch blocks which I like. Here is the link:

Bertie's Year BOM using my stash. Bonnie Sullivan sells the pattern set on her shop site. Shabby Fabrics has the laser cut pre fused fabrics as a BOM.
ReplyDeleteI have started an English paperpiecing project. It will only be 33 inches when complete so I thought I could fit it in. It's through Faeriesandfiber.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThere is also an applique project through Sentimental Stitches. It's free but it's over a year to complete. That one block a month for 20 months. If interested, look for The Benjamin Biggs Wedding Quilt.
There are two interesting BOM's I am looking at. One is Pat Sloans : blogpatsloan.com (Globetrotting) and the other is Quilt Doodle Doodles : quiltdoodledesigns.blogspot.ca
ReplyDeleteAurifil also has a BOM with the first month being spools.
