Yesterday I posted a photo of my finished Summer Day quilt top. I really like the fabrics I used, but I started thinking about how the same quilt would look using one of Minick and Simpson's red, white, and blue lines, like Prairie Paisley II. Wouldn't that be awesome? Or a Christmas line? Or maybe a line with Autumn colors--those flying geese make me think of Autumn too.
If you live in the US and would be interested winning this gently used pattern, leave me a comment telling me what fabric you'd use. Sinta and Sherri will have the Summer Day Schnibbles parade on May 1st, so we can see what all the other quilters used for theirs. I'll announce a winner of this little drawing on my Thursday blog post, so leave a comment by Wednesday night to be entered.
#1 means I'm not in much luck to win :) but I'd love to make it out of my cottom blossoms layer cakes...I have both the dark and the light layer cakes of the line along with a jelly roll. I've been looking for the perfect quilt to showcase and this pattern would do it! I loved the colors you've used...your quilt can come live with me when it's done being loved at your house
ReplyDeleteIf I were doing this Schnibble, I think I would use Papillon from 3 Sisters. It is a summery fabric with just a touch of "oo-la-lah"! That being said, I really want to make a red, white and blue quilt but not a big one. You are right. It would be beautiful in Prairie Paisley II. Have you seen their new Independence Trail? It won't be out until mid-summer but beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the new Lily Ashbury line of fabrics but since I have a charm pack of her last line, Summerhouse I might use that one. Lots of bright summery fabrics is what I am tempted by these days.
ReplyDeleteOhhh...I'd love to win that pattern. I've been drooling over everyone's progress on this Schnibble. I have a "Northwoods Botanical" layer cake that would be perfect for a Christmas-y quilt, but I'd also love it in Prairie Paisley. Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great, I believe that I would make it out of Fig Trees California Girl...thanks for the chance :)

ReplyDeleteIf I won this pattern I think I would probably make it out of some of my Kansas Troubles stash. It wouldn't matter what line as they all go together well. Thanks for the chance at winning.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this with California Girl...love the colors, the softness, can't wait to cut into to it. Thanks for the chance to win.

I have the pattern so don't include me in the draw. But your title caught my eye. My mother in law asked me this years ago at Christmas when I handmade her two stuffed kitty things...she had waned them...I made them in a peach color to match her home. In the midst of opening gifts in front of everybody she says....oh can you make these in blue?!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not wanting to win anything, but since all I sew with is scraps, it would have to be made out of scraps I already own. Miscellaneous~ ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI love this Scnnibble pattern! I would do it in patriotic colors...never tire of those:) Hope I win...I always love what you share!

ReplyDeleteI think it would make a cute Christmas quilt! Thanks for the opportunity to win it.
ReplyDeleteA while back, I bought a lot of "Lovely" by Moda, because I loved it. I have yet to find a pattern to use it on, but Summer Day would definitely make a very good use of all the colors. I'd love to give it a try! Thanks - Sue from MN
ReplyDeleteIf I would win this pattern, I would make it out of California Girl by Fig Tree. This would be the perfect reason to buy the fabric!!
ReplyDeletefor me, red, white and blue. then it could go in my "flag" room. i have some of the older minnick and simpson lines and that is probably where i would start. and then mix it up because my favourite thing to do is mix fabric from lots of different lines
