Now I'm able to cross the last "to do" off my list, not counting the Hometown Christmas! Yay me!
Getting up the courage to cut the scallop took a little bit, and THEN working on that ruffled binding--well, I'm guessing I'm not going to be making ruffled binding very often, that's for sure!
I'm sure I could have made the ruffle much quicker on my Bernina, but for some reason (because I was too lazy to want to switch machines), I did it by hand instead. ARGH!
Well, August is coming to an end. How did the rest of you do on getting things done? I want to have a little giveaway for those bloggers in my sidebar who committed to getting things finished this month and who actually finished at least three things. Please leave a comment for me about what you finished or post your finishes on your blog--I'll be checking in to see how everyone did.
While I was waiting for the cherry quilt to wash and dry, I went through all my old quilt magazines, although I still need to organize the pages I decided to keep--maybe I'll do that tomorrow night so I can finish all my "chores" before the month is over.
Kim,
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so cute!! I love the curvy ruffle! It really sets off the quilt! Talk to ya soon!

congratulations on the finish. You are really on a roll with all those finishes Kim.
ReplyDeleteCute little cherries, Kim, and the curvey, ruffly edge is great. I didn't get everything done in August I wanted to do but what I did accomplish was much more than I thought I could do in only 1 month. I'm patting myself and all the other challenge participants on the the back. Yay for us!

ReplyDeleteHi Kim!
ReplyDeleteYahoo!!! September tomorrow!!! AND I finished my last project on the weekend (check out my blog). Thanks for the push, nudge, kick...to get things finished. It is a lovely feeling! Speaking of lovely, the cherry quilt is calling my name. I do love cherries! You did a gorgeous job-love the way you stitched inside each flower. Back to the Challenge- please don't send me a prize as I am considering all my FINISHED projects as my reward! Besides someday soon you will be mailing me the hexagon pattern and THAT will be my prize! hint hint... I live in Canada remember. Thanks again! The challenge was fun. Now I have to get busy making some more unfinished projects for next years' challenge! :o) Take care!

ReplyDeleteOK, This is "Stinkin' Cute!"
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I love that cherry quilt - the black and white fabric really set it off...
ReplyDeleteI was a bad girl - and only actually finished one of my projects - the baby quilt which I posted about on Saturday...
But, I did become more organized because of your challenge...
Hi Kim
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased you manage to be so productive. We had some very sad news about a family friend, so I've been a bit preoccupied arranging to look after her kiddies. However, I have enjoyed watching everyonelese finish their UFO's. You ALL rock.

Your quilt is gorgeous! The ruffled binding just sets it off. How do you do it?
ReplyDeleteYou've really accomplished a lot in one month. You've inspired me to make a list for September.
You must not have as many quilt magazines as me - I've been tearing out pages all summer!
oh sooooo lovely!!
ReplyDeletei got 9 projects done-done in august. 8 runners and a King size. There are pics of the runners on my blog but I was not able to take pics of the big one yet. Sent away 6 sets of swap blocks so they are as done as i can get them, and I set together 5 sets of old swap blocks into baby quilt tops. So all in all a pretty productive august! http://auntbekky.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt ! Love those cherries :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cherry quilt! The quilting is beautiful :o)
ReplyDeleteI DID finish three projects in August! I was so excited to finish my Nice People Nice Things wallhanging this weekend along with my Sheep in the Willows quilt and my Whimsicals quilt top. Thank you for the challenge because without it, I KNOW I wouldn't have gotten these completed. YAY!
HI Kim,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on hosting such a wonderful challenge. I had lots of fun and did get some things done which I will list:
Finished a star wallhanging,
and a queensize star quilt from start to finish,
and made four other pieces- that are to flimsie stage -
one king,(wonky tiles to the ready to quilt stage)
one queen to flimsy stage with a backing made ( winding ways quilt ,
one full/double to ready to quilt stage ( trip around the world)s and
one slasher twin sized quilt to almost flimsie stage- it needs some leaves appliqued on it before I can quilt it.
Some projects left to do - baby wraps - quilted - one and 4 others to make- perhaps I will cut them on the upcoming long weekend and
one optical illusion quilt in red and black to cut and piece( it is partially cut out).
There will always be more quilts to make but right now there is work that beckons and school children who need my attention.
I could have worked harder and finished more but I made a good dent in some of outstanding projects. Progress was made-WaaaHoo
Your cherry quilt is beautiful and I love the ruffly border.
Kim, I thank you for:
sharing your projects,
your generosity for all the lovely giveaway books and patterns,
and your support and encouragement to finish and show off one's projects,
Perhaps we will get a chance to do it again...
Warmest regards,
Anna
it looks fabulous! congrats on the finish
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you for setting us all on a path to finishing our UFO's. I loved seeing how hard others were working too.
ReplyDeleteNo I have not finished three UFO's, working on completing some on my list.
Will and perseverance are what I have come to realize are two important factors in finishing my UFO's and I thank you Kim for helping me focus on this. No I am not the winner of the challenge or close to it. I do have a peaceful feeling inside now, instead of the overwhelming feeling that I had. I thank you and all of your contributors.
Thank you for lighting the way.
I see the light,
I see the light.
Big Hugs :0)
I just love this quilt. Is it your pattern? Is so I would live to buy it.
