Cluck, cluck, cluck!
I spent the morning today getting ready for class--selecting and pressing fat quarters and tracing the chicken template onto freezer paper.
Then I went to class. I love this technique! It's so much fun seeing the chickens come to life and getting a peek at the next block, which is always something of a surprise!
In class, I cut all the pieces for 12 blocks but I'll probably only use 9 in the quilt. Unless I change my mind and decide to keep making chickens. I made three chickens in class.
And, of course, I couldn't stop making chickens, so I came home and made three more.
Now that I've done a few, they're going faster, although there are quite a few pieces in each block. I've sprinkled chicken blocks throughout this post. They aren't squared up and trimmed yet--that will come when I've made all the blocks.
I'd love to stay up all night and keep making chicken blocks, but I have things to do tomorrow, so I can't, darn it! Hummmmm. I wonder what the next chicken will look like? If you haven't tried this way of making blocks before, try it! But be forewarned--like all highly fun things, it's addictive!
Your chickens are terrific - I love Buggy Barn patterns and their country/muddy colours are lovely but it is refreshing to see them in something a bit more zingy!

can't wait to see more blocks on Sunday!

Great job on your chickens! I just love the Buggy Barn method, so forgiving and so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteCute chickens! I like your color selections. Been thinking about trying this method a long time...maybe now is the time to do it! It sure looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteVery cute chickens, Kim, Do you cut about 4 at the same time and then interchange the colors?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't know what I would do with a chicken quilt though. Guess it would be a cute table topper. Wanting for the rest of them. I do like your choice of fabics.
I agree and love the Buggy Barn way. Many moons ago I made a Star quilt with their method....it was fun and addicting to see what the next block would be! Your chickens are perfect with the off-beat colors you chose. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love them!!!
