Did that get your attention? There seemed to be a theme going on at work today. First of all, we've been in our building for about 13 years now, and it's time to lay new carpet. Because we're a fairly large office, the carpet layers are doing it in sections and working on the weekends. Those employees occupying the first section got their notice yesterday that the carpet laying would begin this weekend, and everything in their cabinets and on their floor would need to be loaded into these rolling carts so the file cabinets could be disassembled and the new carpet could be installed.
It's hard to get from one part of the office to another with many of the corridors in the first section filled with carts. We were constantly detouring when we'd find our path was blocked.
Luckily, I'm not in the first section; I think I'm in the second section, which means this will be happening to me soon--probably next week. And lest we forget:
Happily, though, the court reporters our office works with treated us to a Hawaiian luau today. So we got lei'd--get it?! Ha ha! I know--it's really an over-done joke. Hey, what do you think of the painting of the three native Americans sitting around a campfire looking down at the banquet table? Kind of odd, huh? And it looks like our pineapple's on fire!
The court reporters all wore "grass" skirts--the "boss" is the one in the pink grass skirt; all the "workers" had to wear brown skirts! Isn't that always the way?
They always do such a nice job with the desserts too!
When I saw the palm tree, I started looking around for that pool boy I have a hankering for, but no luck there. I guess it wasn't quite ALL about getting laid today, darn it!
So I took my dessert, my drink, and my lei back to my desk. I may not have found my pool boy, but I did get a spiffy little blue drink umbrella!
I love the "no whining" sticker...!! nice to have lunch "laid" on.....!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun place to work. I was reading your story and waiting for you to say it was your floors turn to get new carpet and someone came and told you that you would get "laid" in the morning, meaning new carpet, LOL.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the title, the rest of your post was a bit dissapointing *lol*
ReplyDeleteMan, your office is a whole lot more fun than mine. You'll have to rest up this weekend -- getting laid like that wears a person out!
ReplyDeleteI'll hazard a guess that the woman in the pink skirt pinched your pool boy!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a fun lunch! That could just about make you forget about the 110 degree smoke outside, even without a pool boy! DH won't ever take me to Hawaii just because I tell everyone else who goes to bring me back a cabana-boy.
ReplyDelete**sigh**
Ahh... such a fun day! I work at home and miss that stuff sometimes, but my "pool boy" is right here anytime I want em, ROTFL!
