Pest Extermination, Day 3

Today I baked a snap trap along with the rest of our dinner.

We knew the pest guy had put a trap somewhere in or under the broiler (which is under the oven at floor level), but he told Hubby we could use our oven--just not the broiler. First I heard a loud noise, but I didn't have any idea what it was or where it came from. Later I figured out it must have been the trap springing when it started to melt. Really, it was the chemical smell of melting plastic that tipped me off; my only fear was finding a furry little body inside the melted plastic--not something I really wanted to even THINK about while cooking dinner.

No fur though. Just a contracted piece of melted plastic partially melted onto the broiler. ARGH! Maybe I DON'T like cooking on weekends after all.

  1. Oh, Kim, ugh! We are currently have a mice problem (yes, there is definitely more than one). Never had them before in my life - luckily, they seem to be confined to the garage/basement area. But still, yuck! Luckily DH seems to have taken care of the problem with bait and traps. I don't go down there much anymore o:)

  2. maybe your rat's name is Ratatouille and he likes to cook, too - or maybe he just likes to eat ... i dunno - seems like if he doesn't take the bait pretty soon, you're gonna run outta ammo

p.s. - my word ver is andes - like the mints ... or maybe the mountains

  3. Hilarious! Yesterday while I was out I missed a bunch of excitement in the neighborhood when one neighbor pushed his mower from the backyard to the front, couldn't start it, went to lift the engine cover, and a possum ran out! 10 minutes later he again went to lift the engine cover and a SECOND possum ran out! Unbelievable.

  4. I hope you're not related to the exterminator guy, because I don't think he's the sharpest tool in the shed, LOL.
