Thimbleberries Club Block of the Month--Next Step Done

I finished making three more blocks to fill in the center of my version of the half-sized Thimbleberries block of the month . . .

And then I put all the blocks together for the center tonight . . .

Now what? Well, I need to dress up the house some. I'll add some stitchery and some applique, I think, although that part of the plan is still developing. In the original pattern, the next step would be to add a checkerboard border. I kind of like that border but I'm also thinking about a fence. So maybe a fence and then a checkerboard? Or a checkerboard and then a fence? Or just one or the other? Any opinions?

  1. I like what you have done and that yours isn't exact to all the others. I also 1/2 sized my blocks, but have followed the pattern. I am making two so that when DD says where is mine. I can say here it is. This will shock her. I think the idea of a fence goes well with the theme and I also like the checker board. I do think the pattern has to many busy borders, so maybe I will change mine there.

  2. Your blocks look lovely, and the colour you chose for the house is much nicer than the original. I've seen some that have curtains etc to jazz the house up a little.
A fence would definitely be lovely.

  4. Nice job, Kim. As much as I love a picket fence border, I have never made one. I love the one you put on your hollyhock quilt.

  5. A fence would just finish it off beautifully, it looks great.

  6. It's beautiful! Very homey and lovely. Are you going to embrioder flowers in the window box of the house?

  8. When I did this quilt, I machine embroidered a wreath using silk ribbon by machine on the door of the house. It urned out really cute! I like your smaller version, I made the big quilt, and boy is it BIG!!!. I wish that I had done the smaller version.
Love your blog, read it daily!
